Thank You

Listen, folx who know me can hear me saying “Listen”, Lol.  I want to thank my collaborators who were amazing in creating this website and my birthday content. Please follow and support these patient, kind, creative, supportive, encouraging professionals; my graphic & web designer Tola (@Poetic Designers), my birthday photographer & videographer Onyie (@throughonyielens) and 😉 The Statuesse.

Thank you to everyone who has reached out to say happy birthday, make a purchase and give feedback. It has been overwhelmingly loving, positive and affirming. I appreciate you all and value your support as I grow to positively impact communities.

Black Celebration, Holidays and Q1

It’s December and that means holiday season, a new calendar year and Q1 will be here soon. It’s my reminder to book your BH/FM talent yesterday.  In 2021 I decided I wouldn’t be running on empty during my birthright BLACK celebration. Feeling overwhelmed about missing events, not supporting what interests and inspires me or being burnt out by March is not the joy I want to curate.

I want ease, comfort, excitement and ALL THE BLACKNESS. I’m Black all year, no proof necessary. For folx who’s blessings are not melanated February is about changing the experience of the African Diaspora. Here in Calgary where we face so much racism, both covert and overt, micro and macro aggressions with little space, support for our safety and livelihood.  Black Futures ‘History’ month is a time for hope, care and celebration on our own terms. That being said this is a gentle reminder to book talent, catering, event management,  content creators,  photographers, speakers and more NOW. Book early so that we can create with ease, plan with intention and be prepared to enjoy a celebration born from pain, violence and mass oppression.

Black Business and Projects

If you’re not booking for events in February you can support Black business now. Thank you Gerri (@Ninth&Brick), your  beautiful space was an amazing backdrop for Living a Creative Life. Check out this Black owned business to find fashions, gifts, crafts and more from local Black, Indigenous and People of color.

As always, come back for more…
