Black and proud
Its 2024 and I’m back, on the blog! My life continues to be a wild ride, I’m celebrating this February.
Black history month is a celebration and acknowledgement of Blackness that began in Murica, but Black history is beyond suffering and oppression. Anti-Blackness is global as is the Black experience, which includes Indigeneity. We are history, and creating the future now. This is the time for those who are not Black to level-up your push back on anti-Black racism in your daily practice. Anti-oppression harms us all. With the many genocides occuring real time, this is the reminder that it begins with anti-Blackness and the world will benefit from re-indigenization being priority number 1.
Celebration
Joy is a revolutionary act. I am a strong proponent of Joy, because what do we do after the fight is over? I am practicing anti-oppression so I can do MORE JOY! That being said I invite you to celebrate Black folx, ALL TYPES of Blackness, including the everyday people and those who seem messy but, its really a symptom of oppression.
Wanna celebrate with me and more?

UPDATE on Charges
Lastly, I want to update folx on my latest charges…. Dropped. This specific experience has been truly difficult and I will share more in my next post. I was notified the beginning of January and I want to remind folx this isn’t over for me or my collaborator, Taylor McNallie. We need continued support because this is a long hard process to overcome regardless of judgement within the system. Thank you to Stop the Stack for their caring and kindness. You can learn more about whats going on and how to support.
I appreciate those who have never faltered in their support of me and my collaborators.
For me this is a sliver of a win. Charges being dropped is not the system working for progress. The damage is done, I have been harmed, my family and beyond. I will never be the same and too many connections have been broken. My relationship with community in Calgary will never be the same, the silence around my mistreatment was deafening. I will forever remember this isolation.
I won’t stop….
